WHAT WILL BE IN THE BOX?
Seasonal farm fresh veggie & fruits. 5 –7 items per week. Some of these items may be multiple but will count as one item – ex: sweet corn – you may receive 4-6 ears, tomatoes –1 pint cherry or 2-6 slicers – depending on harvest & time of year. Produce will vary according to the season. Weight of box will vary – melons weighing more than salad mix. You will receive $20 worth of produce each week for 20 weeks.
WHY DO WE PAY IN ADVANCE?
When you subscribe to the Veggie Subscription/CSA we make an investment on your behalf. Seeds & materials are purchased with you in mind. We start the process in February beginning seeds in trays and planting in the fields March through April. Time, Labor & supplies are spent on your box long before you begin to receive your first box in May.
WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT VACATIONS?
We are not able to track everyone’s vacation schedule – we also need a place for the veggies to go – even while you are away. You may make plans to have a neighbor or friend pick up your box.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET TO PICK UP MY BOX?
Your produce will be donated to a local soup kitchen or distributed to workers at the farm.
DO YOU HAVE HALF SHARES?
We are not able to offer half shares – you may want to make arrangements to share your box with a neighbor or co-worker.
CAN WE ORDER EXTRA PRODUCE?
If you are picking up at Newark, Calvert , Baltimore, USDA, Edgewater, Ft.George Meade, or Bel Air you may email an order for extra produce. We will put a bill in your box & you may pay by mail – honor system. This would include free range eggs, organic cheese and honey as well. Folks picking up at Highland Orchards, Spring Run & Henretty's are asked to patronize those business. They graciously allow us to drop our boxes at their site – we like to return the favor.
HOW DO WE SIGN UP?
Take a look at our web site www.calvertfarm.com & find the subscription application page. Print out the page & mail to Calvert Farm along with your check. Reservations are due by February 15, 2008. Final payment is due by March 31, 2008.
CAN I PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD?
The expense of maintaining a credit card payment system is too much for a small farm budget. We accept checks, money orders or cash.
